Meraki

Coffee Distributor

Coffee Distributor

The Meraki coffee distributor rotates across the top of the coffee bed to level the surface before tamping. Its stainless steel construction, textured grip and shaped base support a controlled, repeatable motion during puck preparation.

Set the distributor shallow enough to contact the coffee without heavily compressing it, rotate with light pressure, then finish with the Meraki Tamper. If the grounds contain deeper clumps, use the WDT Tool first. Browse more espresso preparation tools.

FAQ

What does a coffee distributor do?

It rotates across the upper surface of the coffee bed to create a level starting point before tamping.

How do you use an espresso distributor?

Set it shallow, place it on the grounds, rotate once or twice with light pressure, remove it and tamp level.

Is a distributor the same as a WDT tool?

No. WDT addresses clumps throughout the bed; a rotating distributor mainly levels the surface.

Do you still need to tamp?

Yes. Distribution prepares and levels the grounds, while tamping performs the final compression step.

Can a coffee distributor stop channeling?

It cannot guarantee that. Grind, dose and internal distribution must also be correct for the basket and coffee.
