Meraki Gen 2 introduces four main updates: a 45-setting grind range, support for compatible 58 mm E61-style portafilters, a redesigned shower screen, and a multilingual interface. It retains the rotary-pump, dual-boiler platform and weight-assisted workflow of the original Meraki, with refinements to grinding, accessory choice, water distribution, and interface accessibility.

Our aim is to bring the essential elements of espresso preparation into one home setup. Gen 2 continues that approach while giving users more options for dialing in coffee and choosing the tools they use each day.

What Changes in Meraki Gen 2?

Update What it changes What to keep in mind
45 grind settings A wider adjustment range for dialing in espresso Each coffee still needs an appropriate dose, yield, and grind setting
E61-style portafilter support More options for compatible 58 mm portafilters Confirm the fit of the specific accessory before purchasing
Redesigned shower screen A revised design intended to distribute water across the coffee bed Even distribution and level tamping remain important
Multilingual interface Access to controls and prompts in additional languages Check the language options available in the installed software

1. A Wider Grind Range: 45 Settings

Gen 2 expands the integrated grinder's adjustment range to 45 settings, including additional options toward the coarser and finer ends. This gives users more positions to work with when establishing an espresso recipe for a different coffee.

The wider range is useful when changing beans or refining a familiar recipe. It does not mean every coffee needs the finest setting, or that a particular number transfers from another grinder. Start with a dose suited to the basket and a measured target yield, then adjust the grind based on flow and taste.

The number of settings describes the available adjustment positions. It does not, by itself, establish smaller steps throughout the original range or guarantee a particular flavor result.

2. Support for Compatible E61-Style Portafilters

The revised brew-group interface supports compatible 58 mm E61-style portafilters, broadening the choice of tools users can consider for their setup.

For someone who prefers a particular handle or a bottomless portafilter, accessory choice can be a practical part of the daily routine. However, a 58 mm diameter or an E61-style description alone does not confirm that every third-party portafilter will fit.

Check the accessory maker's compatibility information, including locking-lug dimensions and sealing fit. The supplied portafilter remains the starting reference; do not force an unfamiliar accessory into the group head.

3. A Redesigned Shower Screen

Gen 2 introduces a revised shower-screen design intended to distribute water across the coffee bed during extraction. The update concerns the water-delivery path above the puck.

Water distribution and puck preparation work together. A shower-screen change does not remove the need for an appropriate basket dose, evenly distributed grounds, and a level tamp. Keeping those steps consistent helps users assess their recipe without changing several variables at once.

4. A Multilingual Interface

The Gen 2 interface supports English, German, Spanish, Polish, Arabic, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, Japanese, and Korean. This makes controls and on-screen prompts accessible to more users in their preferred language.

Language selection changes how information is presented rather than how the coffee is extracted. Check the options available on the installed software and follow the instructions supplied with the machine when updating it.

What Gen 2 Keeps

These refinements sit within the same core approach to home espresso: integrated grinding, measured preparation, and separate systems for brewing and steaming.

  • Rotary-pump brewing: the pump remains part of the espresso platform.
  • Dual boilers: separate brew and steam boilers allow espresso extraction and milk steaming to take place together.
  • Dose and yield measurement: separate scales measure ground coffee and espresso output, with automatic stopping at the selected beverage-weight target.
  • Hands-on preparation: users still distribute and tamp the coffee, texture milk, and choose recipe adjustments by taste.

The separate brewing and steaming systems support the milk-drink workflow, while weight measurement helps make a chosen espresso recipe easier to track. Neither replaces suitable beans, consistent preparation, or dialing in.

What Existing Owners Should Check

Hardware revisions and software updates are different kinds of change. A software update should not be assumed to add a revised grinder mechanism, portafilter interface, or shower screen to an earlier machine.

Before ordering parts or third-party accessories, confirm the machine's generation and the specific component's compatibility. For software features, check the installed version and the update information supplied for that unit. This announcement does not establish that Gen 2 hardware can be retrofitted to an earlier model.

A More Flexible Version of the Same Approach

Meraki Gen 2 develops the integrated espresso system through changes to the grind range, portafilter interface, shower screen, and language options. Those updates give users additional choices while preserving a measured, hands-on preparation routine.
